Section 01

Information We Collect

To provide you with secure and efficient financial services, and to comply with regulatory requirements, we collect the following categories of information:

How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect for the following purposes:

  • Providing and personalising our digital wallet services
  • Processing peer-to-peer transfers, withdrawals, and card loads
  • Verifying your identity (KYC) as required by the Bank of Sierra Leone
  • Detecting and preventing fraudulent activity, money laundering, and security threats
  • Sending transaction alerts, security notices, and customer support responses
  • Informing you about new features or promotions (opt-out available at any time)
Section 03

Data Protection & Security

We deploy layered security controls to protect your personal and financial data:

  • TLS 1.3 encryption for all data transmitted between your device and our servers
  • AES-256 encryption for all sensitive data stored at rest
  • Multi-factor authentication (MFA) support for account access
  • Access to personal data restricted to authorised employees only
  • Regular independent security audits and penetration testing
You are responsible for keeping your wallet PIN, passwords, and OTP codes confidential. Never share them with anyone, including LinkPay SL staff.
Section 04

Sharing of Information

We do not sell your personal data to third parties. Period.

We only share information under the following limited circumstances:

  • Partner banks and financial intermediaries — to process transfers and withdrawals
  • Identity verification providers — to complete your KYC checks
  • Bank of Sierra Leone and the FIU — to fulfil mandatory regulatory reporting
  • Law enforcement — in response to valid court orders or subpoenas
Section 05

Data Retention

We retain your customer identification data, identity verification records, and complete transaction history for the period required by Sierra Leone law.

Pursuant to the AML/CFT Act of Sierra Leone, all records are retained for a minimum of five (5) years following the closure of your account or completion of a transaction.
Section 06

Your Rights

You have the following rights regarding your personal data:

  • Access — request a copy of the personal and transaction data we hold on you
  • Correction — update inaccurate or outdated personal information
  • Closure — request account closure (subject to statutory 5-year data retention obligations)
  • Opt-out — withdraw consent to marketing communications at any time
